Data Analysis & Calculations

Instructions: Use the matrix below to record your observations. For each reaction, indicate whether a precipitate formed – write “ppt” along with its color if one is produced, or “no ppt” if none appears in the corresponding well.

Known Data:

  • Predict the products of each reaction below & determine if you expect to see a precipitate form based on the solubility rules.

Experimental Data:

For each reaction, include the following:

  • Identify the reactants: Chemical name & chemical formula
  • Identify the products: Chemical name & chemical formula
  • Does the reaction produce a precipitate? If so, provide the chemical name, chemical formula, & corresponding color of the precipitate.
  • Compare your experimental data to your known data. Note any inconsistencies between the two sets of data.
